Ryan has worked as a licensed nursing home administrator for 8 years, 2 of which with Monarch. Ryan serves on the Legislative Forum Committee for the state trade association, Care Providers of Minnesota and has a passion for learning and engaging with legislators. He holds a strong understanding of the Baldridge criteria and other quality improvement frameworks. Ryan lives on a hobby farm in Taylors Falls, MN with his wife and two Australian shepherds. In his spare time, he enjoys fitness, water skiing, and working around the farm.
When asked what he likes about Parmly on the Lake, Ryan replied, “ I love the Parmly campus simply because of the people. Our staff extend their lives and open their families to welcome the tenants and residents. There’s a tremendous sense that all these people want to help each other out in any way they can. It’s definitely stood out to me ever since I started and I feel it every day. It’s what makes Parmly special. You don’t find that anywhere.”
Brooke has been a Registered Nurse for the past 6 years. Her passion for a nursing career stems from a family experience that gave her the desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Brooke has been a part of the Parmly team for 6 years. She spends her free time with her kids, calling them her main hobby. She also enjoys riding horses and spending time outside.
When asked what she likes about Parmly on the Lake, Brooke explained, “I love that Parmly is a family. Everyone looks out for each other and is willing to help everyone. The atmosphere is truly that of caring people. It is my home away from home.”
Tina has been in the healthcare field for 18 years. She brings with her 11 years of experience as an RN to the Parmly team. Tina transferred from a sister facility to Parmly in 2018 so she could provide care and service to the people living in the same community she resides in. In her free time, Tina likes to garden and spend time with her family.
When asked what she likes best about working at Parmly Tina replied, “Parmly on the Lake is a family orientated building. Aside from that, the staff at Parmly provide quality care and genuinely care about the residents and their families.”
Christine has a BS degree in Social Services from The College of St. Scholastica. She has been working in this field for the past 20 years with a background in disabilities, low vision, and mental health. She chose to work in Long Term Care in 2016 because she enjoys the geriatric population. In her free time, Christine loves to fish. Her personal best to date is a 25 lb. carp she caught when she was 8 years old. Her favorite ice fishing memory is of the one year she used a broken hockey stick as a fishing pole. She caught the biggest Walleye she has ever caught with that pole after having to chip away more ice from the hole to land the fish.
When asked what her favorite thing about Parmly is, Christine replied, “There is something beautiful to see out every window. We have a beautiful courtyard overlooking Green Lake with paved trails. We even have chickens living here for the summer!”
April has been a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for the past 2 years. Prior to that, she was a massage therapist for 11 years and a personal trainer for 7 years. She accepted the role as the Director of Rehabilitation in January of 2019 and is loving it. April enjoys being outdoors. She is originally from Montana and she and her husband do a lot of fishing, bowhunting and golfing. Her favorite fishing destinations are in remote areas of Canada on Lake of the Woods. Bay, her 1 red poodle joins in for all their fishing adventures.
When asked for something that people might not know about Remedy Therapy at Parmly on the Lake April said, “Our therapy team has 50+ years of combined experience. We offer outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapies to community members. We have 2 lymphedema certified therapists on staff for inpatient and outpatient needs. We also have the therapy gym and pool therapy available for outpatient use too.”
Sandy brings over 33 years of experience to Parmly on the Lake between Long Term Care, Assisted Living, Home Care, and Hospice. Sandy grew up in the country and said her fondest childhood memory was when her family raised two black bear cubs to adulthood. Her hobbies include traveling, cooking, love for animals and spending time with her family. Sandy enjoys spending as much time with her children and grandchildren as she can.
When asked what she likes best about working at Parmly on the Lake Sandy replied, “My residents and staff. I love my good morning hugs, and my evening goodbyes when I go home. I love the true showing of caring and commitment. The beautifulness, serenity and peacefulness of the outdoors that surround Parmly. I love the history and the preservation of Parmly. I believe Parmly stands out above all of the rest.”
Tabitha has worked on the Parmly on the Lake campus for 14 years. She has a wide skillset ranging from Certified Nursing Assistant/Trained Medication Assistant to Health Information Coordinator/Medical Coding. Her new role as the Admissions Director has provided her the platform to help people explore options and to welcome new residents into the Parmly family. In her free time, Tabitha spends her days with her daughter helping her explore new things and sharing in as many adventures as possible.
When asked what she enjoys about Parmly on the Lake Tabitha explained, “I love Parmly, it is like my 2nd home. I believe I have grown into who I am today because of Parmly. The staff and the residents make Parmly great. Even though I am not in the nursing department anymore, residents still ask me about my daughter every day. I feel like everyone here knows everyone. Parmly has always felt like one big family. We truly care about our residents and each other.”
Allie has been working at Monarch Healthcare Management since November 2018 and at Parmly on the Lake since May 2019. She is a recent graduate of the University of MN - Twin Cities where she obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Health Service Management. She enjoys working with the geriatric population and looks forward to continued career growth within the company.
When asked what she has learned and likes best about Parmly on the Lake so far Allie stated, “I love the team at Parmly - I feel comfortable going into any office at any time and asking questions I may have or sharing thoughts. I feel like the staff truly care about the well-being of their coworkers. Fun fact about Parmly that I learned recently is, way back before Parmly was a Monarch facility and it was owned by different church groups, the staff used to take turns living in the house/cabin in the back and would walk over to work when it was their shift. There are SO many beautiful outdoor areas on this campus.”
Hank has been working in the culinary service since he was 15 years old and at Parmly on the Lake since he was just 18 years old. In 2018, Hank was promoted to the Culinary Director on campus. In his free time, he enjoys fishing. One of his lakes of choice is the beautiful Green Lake which Parmly resides on. Hank has a passion for music. He has been playing the guitar for 20 years and enjoys going to as many concerts as he can. His most recent concert favorite was Paul McCartney live in Green Bay, WI.
When Hank was asked what he likes most about Parmly he stated, “I love Parmly because I love the atmosphere, residents, and staff!”
Michelle is the leader of the South Chisago Meals on Wheels program which operates out of Parmly. Michelle brings 30 years of experience in food services to our team and has always enjoyed working in the nursing home setting. She has been with the Meals on Wheels program for the past 11 years. Michelle has a soft spot in her heart for the geriatric population. She grew up being very close to her Great Grandma with fond memories of her teaching Michelle how to sew and play canasta.
When asked to share something others may not know about Parmly on the Lake Michelle stated, “Parmly on the Lake Meals on Wheels program has over 140 volunteer drivers!”
Rochelle has been working in various areas of healthcare, wellness, and fitness since she graduated from MSU Mankato in 2003 with a degree in Exercise Science. She is an ACSM certified Exercise Physiologist and NETA certified Group Exercise Instructor and Senior Fitness Specialist. Her true passion is to help people become and/or stay healthy at any stage of life. Rochelle began working for M-Power Wellness Center as a Wellness Specialist in December 2016 before taking over as Wellness Director in July 2018 and states she has never been happier. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband and 3 kids playing outside, watching movies, working in her garden, riding the trails, and relaxing with good friends.
When asked what her favorite thing about Parmly on the Lake was she stated, “Hands-down, my absolute favorite part about working at Parmly is the strong sense of family. It is amazing seeing the passion we all have for others coming together, and I look forward to coming to work every day.”
Bill has been in this profession for the past 8 years. Bill says the skills that he has learned in previous careers, his dedication to doing good work, and caring for others has made Parmly on the Lake a good fit for him. In his free time, Bill enjoys working with horses, fixing things, and growing a produce garden.
When Bill was asked what his favorite part of Parmly on the Lake is he responded, “The best part about Parmly on the Lake is the people who live here and the people who care for them.”
Chelsea has worked on the Parmly campus for 8 years. She has worked in the Therapeutic Recreation Department for the last 3 years and was recently promoted to the Director. Chelsea states this profession is important to her because she is able to create lasting memories and relationships with Parmly on the Lake residents by providing meaningful, life-enriching moments. In her free time, Chelsea enjoys nature - hiking, camping, listening to the rain - as well as scrapbooking, poetry and quality time with her loved ones.
When asked what she likes best about Parmly on the Lake Chelsea replied, “The beauty of the campus is healing. Through the variety of changes we have experienced as a campus, it still feels like home. Much like the Monarch butterfly goes through phases, we do too. Through those phases, we make the best of the little things in life. A smile, a hug, a compliment, a first name basis friendship that supports one another wherever we are in that changing formation and life process.”
